The XL is the Ranger lineup’s base model, powered by a 270-horsepower 2.3L EcoBoost inline-4 engine that features turbocharging and auto start/stop technology for improved efficiency. It develops a hefty 310 lb-ft of torque, resulting in strong acceleration and a towing capacity of up to 7,500 pounds. An available 2.7L EcoBoost V6 increases performance to 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Towing Assistance Technology

Every Ranger comes equipped with a 4-pin wiring harness and Trailer Sway Control. The latter can detect when your trailer starts to sway and is able to respond by applying the brakes and reducing power from the engine. Optional on the XLT and Lariat models, Pro-Trailer Back Up Assist enables you to store settings for up to 10 trailers. All you need to do is turn the control knob in the direction you want to go and the system will handle steering.

Passenger Cabin

Step into the Ranger, and you’ll be impressed by the cabin’s attractive design and extensive passenger space, including up to 43.2 inches of front legroom and 34.6 inches of rear legroom. An 8-inch digital instrument panel displays important vehicle information in high-resolution. An 8-way adjustable driver’s seat wrapped in premium cloth is standard, plus the XLT and Lariat are available with power adjustable front seats and dual-zone climate control.

Lariat models provide an especially inviting riding experience with their genuine leather upholstery, heated front seats, and ambient lighting. Its standard driver memory system eliminates the hassle of having to spend time readjusting your seat and mirrors when switching driving duties with another person.

Infotainment and Connectivity

While the XL is fitted with a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen system with support for SiriusXM radio and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, other trims are available with a larger 12-inch display. SYNC4A technology allows for hands-free phone connectivity and voice commands. The Lariat boasts a powerful 10-speaker premium audio system from Bang & Olufsen.
